Export browser bookmarks to HTML.Bring the links, not your passwords.

A browser export is a portable list of saved addresses and titles. It is not a reading copy of those pages. Keep the original file somewhere safe before moving your library. These instructions are for desktop browsers, where the export menus are available.

Choose the browser holding your library

Chrome

  1. Open the 3-dot browser menu. Choose Bookmarks and lists, then Bookmark Manager.
  2. Open the 3-dot menu inside the manager, not the browser menu again.
  3. Choose Export Bookmarks and save the HTML file.

Export copies the list. It does not remove your saved links from Chrome.

Google’s export instructions

Firefox

  1. Open the bookmarks Library window.
  2. Choose Import and Backup, then Export Bookmarks to HTML.
  3. Choose a folder and save the file. The suggested name is usually bookmarks.html.

Choose the HTML export, not Backup. Firefox’s compressed backup is for Firefox restoration, not this rescue.

Safari on Mac

Safari’s export format depends on the installed version.

If File → Export → Bookmarks is available, save the resulting Safari Bookmarks.html file.

Apple’s current instructions instead use File → Export Browsing Data to File and produce a ZIP archive.

Select Bookmarks only if using that export. Do not include passwords, payment information or browsing history.

Cached Hub does not accept ZIP archives. Do not rename a ZIP to HTML.

Use an actual HTML bookmarks export, or paste individual page addresses into the rescue instead.

Check the list before starting

Drop your HTML file on the rescue page. Cached Hub reads the file in your browser and previews the links it finds.

Check the count and titles. Duplicate addresses may reduce the count, and folders are not recreated as shelves.

The preview does not upload your file. Starting the rescue sends the parsed links to Cached Hub for fetching and caching.

A missing source cannot be reconstructed from a bookmark alone. Paywalls and publisher restrictions can also prevent a reading copy.

Keep sensitive links out of the file you rescue. New keeps are public by default, while cached reading copies are private.

Start with 50 keeps free. Read what Keeper unlocks for $49 once before importing a larger library.
